I have owned one for a long time now, they are well made, and I haven’t been able to find another till now! Just ordered 3 more!
I grow plants for a living and this IS the best hose end sprinkler on the market. It is totally adjustable and will spray any pattern you need. As the spray head goes around, you can adjust it to spray out 4′ in front of you and 8′ to the right side and 6′ to the left side or however you want it. You can adjust this round sprinkler to spray in a square pattern if you like! YOU can easily design the pattern!
After 35 years of growing plants and trying every sprinkler on the market I can tell you this IS the best.

I am a sucker for impulse sprinklers. I grew up in farm country, and it always brings back memories of my youth when I hear the familiar putt-putt-putt of an impulse sprinkler, and see the water arcing out over the grass. The main drawback to them, for me, has always been that they only water in a circle. There were always dry spots where they didn’t overlap. Well Gilmour has put an end to that limitation. This sprinkler is absolutely amazing. It can be made to water a rectangle, triangle, or any random shapes that your yard might be made of. It is simple and logical to setup, and holds its settings with no trouble. After using the first one, I bought two more, which allows me to water our entire oddly shaped yard using 3 sprinklers, without wasting water on concrete walks, patios, windows and other things that don’t benefit from watering. I would recommend getting the large size, even if it seems like it would be overkill. To achieve the maximum distance range that is specified for either size, you have to eliminate any dispersion, and focus the water into a fairly solid stream. When you do this, the result is VERY uneven water saturation. If you get this larger size of sprinkler, then you can plan to disperse the water, for more even coverage, and still get reasonably good distance range.

This product has been the only sprinkler design I’ve tried (and I’ve tried several of different designs and costs)that enables me to water my odd-shaped lawn areas as well as my semi-circle patch of lawn in the middle of my U-Driveway without wasting water. The price is right and the quality seems to be there. I just bought it not long ago so I can’t comment on how long it will last; but it appears to be well built and I see it lasting for several years.
The other sprinkler that has proved handy for even larger areas is the Nelson Traveling Sprinkler. Thas has also served me well and is extremely well built to last. The only drawback is if you have areas of your lawn where the circular sprinkling pattern will result in water waste.

We had a previous Gilmour pattern sprinkler for years and loved it. When it finally began to show too much wear in the Texas sun, we bought this larger one. Although getting the most benefit from this sprinkler takes some trial and error, it does do a good job of covering an odd-shaped lawn. And if you’re careful putting it away and use it in the same place each time, you don’t have to fiddle with it much, although changes in wind and water pressure may require you to adjust it some.

Large pulse type sprinkler. Throws a large/heavy stream of water which some plants might suffer because of. Doesn’t cover as large an area as I would have thought. Downside: unless it’s perfectly level(sure on a lawn??) it will get stuck in one position and create a lake.
