No wonder you have lawn problems. I owned and operated a lawn care/landscape design/maintenance company in South Tx for over a decade, our temp often hit 110 and above, so I doubt you are getting weather any hotter. There should be no need to fertilize more than twice a year, I would use only Scotts, in the Spring it would be a “Weed & Feed”, in the Fall it would be a “Winterizer”, the odd lawn may require Ironite (if your grass has a yellowish tint ). I suspect a lot of your problem is your watering, instead of watering daily or every other day, whatever, do as I had my customers do, water once a week DEEPLY, you want the moisture to reach a depth of about 6″. This will cut down on your water bill, it promotes deep root growth which will result in healthier and more drought resistant grass. When you mow your lawn, NEVER mow in the same direction week after week, vary it every third or fourth cut, this will give you a thicker more “lush” lawn. Should your lawn not respond to the above after 6 – 8 weeks, then contact your County Agricultural Extension Office, ask for a soil testing kit, follow instructions and they will give you detailed results and how to rememdy any problems.
